Officers

Officers aboard a ship covered a multitude of  duties. Having the right officers on board can increase your ships efficiency and combat effectiveness. As your Captain gains reputation with a nation, more and better officers will become available. Each officer is unique in their abilities and will transfer with your Captain to new vessels for that nation. Officers will NOT transfer between nations. Certain officers of specific nations will have unique abilities that will be usable in battle.

Lieutenant

Ships of the line had multiple lieutenants on board. The First Lieutenant could command the ship in the absence or incapacitation of the Captain. Lieutenants were responsible for commanding the deck, commanding gun batteries, and overseeing sections of the crew. Having a First Lieutenant on board increases ship wide efficiency and a division Lieutenant increases per-section efficiency.
